What moonset measures
Moonset is the disappearance of the Moon’s upper edge below an unobstructed horizon. Standard atmospheric refraction is included; changing weather and local terrain are not. The displayed minute is a prediction, not a real-time observation.
Use it when planning a dark interval
After moonset, the sky may still contain sunlight if astronomical dusk has not ended. Moonless astronomical-night intervals on the city page combine a Sun below −18 degrees with a Moon below the horizon. They do not account for light pollution or clouds.
A date may contain no setting event
The Moon can remain above the horizon across midnight, especially at high latitudes. Do not read a missing moonset as 00:00. The adjacent-day table preserves the actual ordering of events.
