Meaning of EENT
EENT stands for End Evening Nautical Twilight. It is the evening crossing of the Sun’s geometric center through 12 degrees below the horizon. It follows sunset and civil dusk, but it is earlier than astronomical dusk when all of these events occur.
Read overnight plans across two dates
For a night that spans midnight, use EENT on the evening date and BMNT on the next morning’s date. Each row of this site’s table is a local civil day; it does not automatically combine the evening with the following morning.
It is not a guarantee of darkness
Moonlight, urban lighting, clouds and terrain affect usable visibility. EENT is a geometric solar threshold. For star observing, also examine astronomical twilight, moonrise and moonset, and the Moon’s illuminated fraction.
