Illuminated fraction versus a named phase
The displayed percentage is the sunlit fraction of the lunar disk as viewed from Earth, evaluated at the midpoint of the selected local civil day. Names such as “Full moon” label broad phase neighborhoods; exact quarter-phase instants are listed separately.
The four quarter events
New Moon, first quarter, full Moon and last quarter are calculated global instants. Their local calendar dates can differ across time zones. The upcoming-phase list converts each instant to the city’s own time zone.
Distance and calendars
The displayed lunar distance is center-to-center from Earth to the Moon. A phase calculation is not a conversion to a traditional lunar calendar. For Korean lunar dates and leap months, use the official KASI calendar resources.
